COUNSELING PROJECT
This project's goals include developing biblical counseling training materials, counseling materials, training counselors, and establishing counseling ministries within churches and counseling services directed to Mongolian communities. These counseling services are designed to help church leaders minister to church members and those outside the church, to improve church health, and to address the many difficult social problems in Mongolian society. Chief among these are family violence and disintegration, alcoholism, and the long shadow of chaos caused by years of communist, socialist occupation followed by transition to an independent government and economy.
Funding for this project supports the development and purchasing of biblical counseling materials, costs associated with counseling and counselor training, the establishment and maintenance of counseling centers and facilities, and salaries for Mongolian staff running counseling centers. Right now this project is in the early stages of development with about 10 trained biblical counselors and one staff person ministering as the coordinator for the Darhan counseling center. As the Darhan center grows and expands, we will also begin in 2012 to focus on establishing a counseling center and biblical counseling ministries in the capital city of Ulaanbaatar.
